In 2015, a group of community partners met and recognized the need for free and accessible healthcare for uninsured adults in Effingham County.
At that time, there were few options for people who did not have health insurance and Effingham has high rates of people with high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. At the same time, there is a lack of public transportation inside the county. Therefore, a free clinic was started by initial volunteers. Since then the clinic has focused on addressing chronic illness but now functions as a primary care provider for it’s patients. Two Rivers serves uninsured adults, ages 18-64, living in Effingham County, who are at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
To enrich the lives of uninsured adults of Effingham County by promoting Healthy Lifestyles and providing free primary medical care and treatment for chronic illness.
A strong community that ensures timely access to quality healthcare with community partners.
Since it’s beginning, Two Rivers has gone from serving patients 2 times a month after hours at a local doctors office to it’s own space in the United Way Service Center in Rincon. The clinic offers a variety of services to patients. From labwork to EKG, meeting with a Registered Dietician, an in house medication dispensary and a medical pantry, all services in clinic are free to the patient. Two Rivers also offers services like covering costs to have Xrays or see a specialist or wound care. The clinic also has partnerships with over 20 different organization that help to provide comprehensive care to patients including Effingham Eye Care, where Two Rivers patients receive free eye care to Dentistry at Towne Park where patients receive free basic dental care.
Two Rivers doesn’t want to be a place where patients just come in and get a pill for their illness but they want to be a hub to holistically care for patient needs!
